September 2016 Meal Team Gets High Marks

What a crew!

We had a great group this week, serving a very popular meal of chicken, rice, soy "chicken" tenders (a surprising hit!), bean and corn salad, green salad, watermelon and cookies.

It went without a hitch and we got some great feedback.

  • Actual quote: "This is the best chicken I've ever had in my life."
  • Another actual quote: "These fake chicken nuggets are even better than chicken."
We would love to see some new faces, so consider joining us next month! Email Megan to get on the list.

This past Thursday we served spinach lasagna made by TBA 3rd graders at Mitzvah Day, plus meatball subs, green beans, salad, watermelon and ice cream bars. Another great meal for nearly 60 homeless youth. Thanks to all our great volunteers. Next up: serving on the Fourth of July!

Sunshine + Delicious Food = Well-Fed Youth and Young Adults at Teen Feed

May 3, 2013

Last night at Teen Feed we served:

32 pounds of Bar B Q Chicken
5 pans of Mac and Cheese
Lots of green salad with tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers served of course with Ranch dressing
Roasted Green Beans
Warm, Fresh Baked Corn Bread
Tasty Four Bean Salad
Fresh Fruit Salad
Home baked Chocolate Chip and Peanut Butter Cookies
Milk and Orange Juice

Our dishwashers were exemplary -- THANK YOU Nathan and Oliver.

This month we welcomed new team members, David, Rachel, and Vicki to the Teen Feed meal team. And last month we welcomed Cecilia and Leise.

The meal was very appreciated by youth and young adults, ages 13-25, who rely on Teen Feed every night  for hot, nutritious meals.  During the meal, the youth sit with their peers, in a safe environment, where they can relax and access information about safe shelter, health care, legal aid, and employment.  For more information about Teen Feed please go to: Teen Feed

We truly appreciate ALL of the members of the Temple Beth Am Teen Feed Meal Team who contribute food, and their time on a monthly basis.

We also want to thank those of you who have decided to help our Meal Team out with financial donations (let us know if you would like info on how to make a contribution)  so we can continue to purchase healthy, nutritious food to serve to the youth.

For the month of May,  Sarah, a Meal Team member, is collecting  dental hygiene items --toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss--to be donated to Teen Feed.  This is her mitzvah project as part of her bat mitzvah.  You can bring your donations to Temple Beth Am!

Enjoy the sunshine-- and we hope to see you on June 5th for our next Teen Feed meal.

All our best,

The sign up for May 2 Teen Feed is now open! Click on this link to sign up to contribute food and/or volunteer: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090F48AEAB2F4-beth12
Now TBA's Teen Feed Meal Team has an online home -- and an easy way to share information with all our great supporters and volunteers. We hope this will make volunteering and contributing even more convenient. Here are a couple notes:
  • We will continue to send out a monthly sign up email for volunteers, but we'll also post the link here. If you'd like an email reminder when there is a new post on this blog, enter your email address where it says "follow us by email".
  • We're excited to announce that we now have an easy, convenient way to donate toward the cost of the food we provide. The meal team leaders often bring, for example, 30 lbs of chicken, plus other food that no one else signed up for. It can add up over a number of months. If, by some wonderful chance, we get more donations than we need, we will donate it to a very worthy cause...Teen Feed!
  • New to Teen Feed? Check out the link on the righthand side - a short PDF that gives you the who/what/why/where/how, along with some helpful Q&As for kids.
Please let us know if you have any suggestions or ideas. - Megan and Randy
